The weekend saw another of my Angels find their home!
It’s always such a moving experience when one of my Angel paintings finds the right place to be, and this particular one has been waiting since 2011 when I originally painted it and I still remember the day when this one arrived on the canvas because it took quite a while for this angel to make their way there.
You see, I never start with any sort of hard and fast plan as to what kind of Angel I want to paint or draw because I want to “feel” the image rather then try to see it in my head; and so I just sort of start and wait to see what happens, which means it can be quite a torturous experience sometimes as I wrestle to find the right Angel for each piece. It’s such a great experience therefore each time I do actually discover the right Angel for each piece that I usually end up saying “Oh there you are!"
Someone once said to me that they would love to watch me work and I told them that was something that would absolutely never happen, because I never let anyone see me paint…not even my wife! Seriously, if you were in the room with me, you would probably think I’ve lost my mind because all you would see would be some sort of mad man bent over a canvas furiously moving paint around, muttering to himself whilst he played some bizarre game of hide and seek with these unseen Angels. I think this is probably one of the reasons why I don’t paint my Angels that often because I find it takes a lot of emotional energy to produce them, and so when one of my paintings eventually finds a home, I always end up feeling quite emotional because I remember the moment I painted every single one of them and what it took out of me to get each angel on to the canvas.
I’ll probably be turning my attention to some new work later this year, but until then…if you’ve never seen any of my Angel Art, then just drop by my Angels Watch Over Me art site.
